To take care of the Montini Open Space Preserve, the City of Sonoma needs people to be the “eyes and ears” of the Preserve, give regular updates to the Sonoma Ecology center on conditions at the Preserve, and discourage inappropriate uses, including littering, pets, and vandalism. Observations and insights from the Patrol will provide valuable information about conditions at the Preserve, allowing Sonoma Ecology Center to manage and protect the property.

Please join us on our Saturday morning meeting if you’re interested in joining the Patrol and learning more on how to submit sightings and reports on the trail after your hikes.

The goals of the Volunteer Patrol are to monitor the property and rapidly communicate problems and opportunities, strengthen a constituency supporting the property, and educate those who have dogs present and/or who are not being proper stewards of the preserve. Responsibilities of Volunteer Patrol participants including walking the property at least once per month for a year, submitting reports and observations in a timely manner, and possibly participating in one or more volunteer workdays per year.

The 4th Street Kissing Gate is marked on this map. For inquiries related to the Montini Preserve Volunteer Patrol, please contact:
