The Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service is a nationwide event that calls on Americans from all walks of life to work together on our nation’s most pressing social and environmental problems. The MLK Day of Service empowers individuals, strengthens communities, overcomes barriers and moves us closer to King’s vision of a healthy and cohesive community.
In that spirit, Sonoma Ecology Center is again organizing an MLK Day of Service at Sonoma’s Nathanson Creek Preserve. That’s where volunteers come together in the ongoing effort to restore this three-quarter-mile stretch of riparian habitat in the heart of Sonoma. Activities will include planting native plants, mulching, pruning, weeding and other maintenance of the preserve.
Volunteers are advised to bring work gloves, layered clothing and a water bottle. Participants may get wet and dirty. We will provide gloves if needed.
This promises to be another fun and inspirational day, working together for the benefit of our community. We hope to see you there!
