Do you have a green thumb? Have you always been interested in plants and want to learn more? If so, then our Nursery Workdays are for you! Nursery Workdays are a wonderful way to spend a Thursday and get hands-on experience with the inner workings of an active nursery.
The nursery at Sonoma Garden Park, with the capacity to grow 40,000 plants, provides native plants for numerous restoration projects in and around the Sonoma Valley while also providing the vegetable starts for the crops at Sonoma Garden Park. In a recent collaboration with local professionals, volunteers, and community members, Sonoma Ecology Center has furthered its mission of creating sustainable landscape solutions at the Sonoma Garden Park with the installation of two new rain catchment tanks and landscaping the entrance of the park with water-wise native plants, many of which were grown at our native plant nursery.
All ages and skill levels are welcome to volunteer. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Volunteers will be getting dirty, so please dress appropriately. Wear sturdy shoes and bring gloves, a snack, and a refillable water bottle.
Volunteers will meet at 9:00 a.m. in front of the Straw Bale Barn next to the Parking Lot of Sonoma Garden Park. Sonoma Garden Park is located on the outskirts of the city of Sonoma at 19996 Seventh Street East between Denmark Street and East MacArthur Street.
