Join us at several locations throughout Sonoma Valley for a clean-up of the headwaters of our coastal streams. Coastwalk-CCTA coordinates the Sonoma County clean-up on 12 beaches and eight inland sites, including at Sonoma Valley waterways. The Valley clean-ups are organized by Sonoma Ecology Center.
Come to the clean-up prepared for the weather (hat, sturdy shoes, sunscreen, water bottle) and bring buckets and gloves if you have them. Please also bring a reusable water bottle to minimize waste.
For more information on the local Clean Up Day — including how to register and where to meet — contact Patrick Willis, restoration technician for the Sonoma Ecology Center, at 707-996-0712 ext. 126 or patrick@sonomaecologycenter.org. California Coastal Cleanup Day, an annual beach and inland waterway cleanup, is the state’s largest volunteer event. In 2015, more than 60,000 volunteers removed 1.2 million pounds of trash and recyclables from our beaches, lakes and waterways. When combined with the International Coastal Cleanup, organized by Ocean Conservancy and taking place on the same day, California Coastal Cleanup Day becomes part of one of the largest volunteer events in the world.
