Begun on Christmas Day in 1900, the Christmas Bird Count (CBC) is the largest annual citizen science event in the world. The Sonoma Valley count circle, centered in El Verano, includes a highly diverse array of habitats, making it one of the finest inland counts in the United States and ranking in the top tier of counts every year.
All birders, counters, spotters, drivers, hikers and nature-lovers are invited to join us for the 2019 Sonoma Valley CBC, taking place on Friday, Dec. 27. The all-day count event will be followed by a compilation dinner featuring a live tally, plus stories and highlights from around the count area.
To sign up for the Sonoma Valley CBC, contact Gene Hunn at 707-981-7301 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Dress for the weather and if available bring binoculars, spotting scopes and bird guides. All levels of birders are welcome.
